We now have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Thermal Spray Technician to join our team in Brisbane, QLD!
In this role, you will be primarily responsible for providing essential support in the Repair and Maintenance of aircraft components.
As a component repair technician, you’ll be responsible for interpreting technical original engineering manufacture drawings & repair schemes and completing specialised machining as required to restore components to their original specifications. You’ll be operating industry leading technology to ensure high quality results across your tasks. You can anticipate some of your day-to-day tasks to include:
- Preparation, measuring and machining of GE, Rolls Royce and many more components following all relevant standards, work instructions and drawings;
- Operate manual industrial plant and equipment such as, vertical milling & horizontal lathe, Grinder, to complete to parent component repairs
- Operate CNC industrial plant and equipment such as, vertical milling & horizontal lathe, Grinder, to complete to parent component repairs
- Undertake a wide range of industrial preparation duties including grit blasting, Shot Peening, sanding and masking;
- Maintain the machine shop, tools, and its equipment in accordance with health and safety requirements;
- Complete work documents and systems during and upon completion of work including in the Pentagon ERP; and
- Fulfil other duties and responsibilities that may be required as determined with your team leader from time to time.

About your new team
Reporting to the Workshop Supervisor, you will be part of a team full shop work team. The team forms part of the greater production team across various disciplines include includes the Welding, mechanical & CNC machine, thermal spray and Assembly teams. APA is seeking an enthusiastic fulltime day worker at our Chapman Place facility to join our team with excellent work life balance shifts of 6am – 4pm Monday – Thursday for the first 6 months which may change to Tuesday – Friday once aviation training & authority approvals are issued.

The experience and skillset best suited to this role includes:
- Appropriate technical education, for example; Certificate III mechanical engineering qualification
- Demonstratable experience in manual machine operations
- Demonstratable experience in programming & operation of CNC machine operations, Pinnacle, Smart, Doosan machines with Fanuc or Mitsubishi controllers preferable
- Experience in an Aerospace, Defence, or other heavy industry manufacture/fabrication role;
- Working knowledge of industrial machine technologies and standards relating to aviation/vehicle machining;
- Additional workshop disciplines will be advantageous (welder/boilermaker/machinist/coating application)
- High Risk Work Licences including crane operation, forklift, elevated work platforms (desirable); and
- The ability to gain and hold the appropriate Australian Security Clearance (must be an Australian citizen)
